IDR is seeking a Senior DLP & Data Governance Lead to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Austin, TX. This role is essential in leading enterprise data protection initiatives within a dynamic organization focused on advancing IT security and compliance.
Position Overview for the Senior DLP & Data Governance Lead:
- Lead enterprise data protection and governance initiatives, including designing and implementing data classification and labeling programs.
- Utilize tools such as Microsoft Purview and Varonis to enable secure data discovery, permission analysis, cataloging, and labeling.
- Work on ensuring AI systems like Microsoft 365 Copilot cannot access restricted or sensitive data.
- Collaborate across IT, security, and procurement teams to develop strategies for safeguarding enterprise information and ensuring fair vendor practices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in data governance, influencing organizational policies and security architecture.
Requirements for the Senior DLP & Data Governance Lead:
- 6+ years of experience in Data Governance and Information Protection
- Proven background in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and enterprise data governance programs
- Expertise with Microsoft Purview and Varonis (data discovery, labeling, permissions, cataloging)
- Strong understanding of data security architecture and policy design
- Ability to lead programs without direct reports; seen as a go-to expert in the organization
